The Daily Drive is a daily (duh) post of all the prominent things going on in the sports world we didn’t cover, and anything else we might want to share with you. Like this J. Just hit it man, it’s cool.
Happy 4/20 guys! Let’s start things off with a classic PSA featuring the Ninja Turtles telling kids to not smoke pot, by offering them pizza. I gotta admit, that’s not a bad strategy. Take notes, DEA.(via)
Man, I remember getting offered joints in the hallways during school. Catholic school was crazy.
-As if going down 2-0 to the Celtics wasn’t bad enough for the Knicks, we could be getting some more news later in the day as the team is awaiting MRI’s on both Amare Stoudemire and Chauncey Billups.
-A-Rod is expected to return to the Yankees line-up tonight against the Blue Jays.
-This NFL/NFLPA labor situation is getting messier, as a group of players are feeling unrepresented and are planning to intervene. Riveting hockey last night, baseball in full gear, NBA playoffs heating up, and all ESPN has been talking about today is this NFL story. Don’t ever change, World Wide Leader.
Pitching robots, playoff mustaches, and Brooklyn Decker in lingerie, after the jump.
–This story combines some of my favorite things, namely robots and baseball. A robot threw out the first pitch in today’s Phillies game, which the Phillies won against the Brewers. No where in that recap does it say that the robot factored in the win, but then again, there was no mention of it not being a factor.
– Here are some pictures of Brooklyn Decker in lingerie, if you’re into that sort of thing. They are NSFW, so yeah, they’re awesome.
-Big night in Stanley Cup playoff hockey. 5 games tonight, each series except for the Detroit/Phoenix one. Great article by Greg Wyshynski of Puck Daddy about whether this could be the last NHL game ever played in Phoenix (DET 5, PHX 2). Meanwhile, the Caps take on the Rangers and their mighty mustaches tonight at MSG (NYR 2, WSH 1, 2ot.) The Flyers hope to end this series in Philadelphia with a win tonight in Buffalo (BUF 4, PHI 1.) Else where the Ducks take on the Preds (ANA 3, NSH 0) and the Guins take on the Bolts in Tampa (TAM 5, PIT 4 OT.)
-The NHL also signed a mega deal this past week with NBC and Versus (2 BILLION!!) We’ll be breaking it down tomorrow.
-Finally, this is a video of some gorgeous girl named Heather Morris from “Glee” (it’s best to not think that she plays a high schooler. ) Apparently she is dancing to “50 songs every guy should listen to”, per Esquire. I didn’t hear any music when I watched it though, just the sounds of Heaven. EDIT: sorry it wouldn’t embed so you have to click the link.
